The Kynge’s Delyghte

This week’s archeological find offers up a stately bow as well as a nod to the days of castles and kingdoms. Inspired by medieval music, The Kynge’s Delyghte was an early music ensemble piece I wrote back in college.

Year Composed: 1990?

About the Song

Here’s something a little different – a song I wrote specifically for performance with my college’s early music ensemble. Although this recording was done with sampled instruments, it’s fairly true to the way I intended the piece to sound in its original arrangement. Inspired by my love of fantasy and medieval music, my goal was to conjure up images of grandly decorated great halls and the kind of majestic processional music that might have once been heard echoing off ancient stone walls.
