Parlormuse

Parlormuse takes authentic late 19th and early 20th century popular songs and gives them new life via modern instrumentation and arrangements. One part nostalgia and the other creative whimsy, the project’s debut album It’s Not The Coat Makes The Gentleman features electric and acoustic instrumentation along with up to four-part vocals to create a soundscape that recalls the spirit of a bygone age without becoming mired in rote reconstruction. Two entirely-instrumental EPs (A Day Before The Feast and Anything For A Quiet Life) rely on the solitary strains of an antique piano to conjure up the cozy feel of an antique parlor where families might gather for an evening’s entertainment.
